One of the UK's finest songwriters returned with a brand new studio album. Boo Hewerdine is known both as the frontman and songwriter for the 1980s literate popsters THE BIBLE, and also as the songwriter behind most of EDDI READER's recent work (including the major hit, 'Patience Of Angels'). As well as Eddi Reader, Boo's songs have also been recorded by artists as diverse as kd lang, David McAlmont, Natalie Imbruglia, Mel C, and Gregson & Collister amongst many others. After four solo albums, he has toured incessantly both solo and with Eddi Reader, and taken on production and co-writing work for Gary Clark (Danny Wilson), Rosalie Deighton and The Corrs. His movie work includes the scores for 'Fever Pitch' and 'twentyfourseven', and in 2002 year he was the guest programmer for the songwriter festival at the South Bank 'The Songs The Thing'.
This album, recorded at the remote Lundgaard Studios in the north of Denmark by the superb studio wizard Frank Birch, is one of those albums that capture an artist performing his songs at the height of his songwriting abilities. Boo's previous album 'Thanksgiving' lured the legendary producer John Wood (Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny) out of retirement, and that Witchseason sound achieved on that album is continued here.
This is a quiet, close, and intimate album - with a beautiful stillness at its core - here is one of England's greatest songwriters with a new collection of superb songs, captured as it should be, every breath, every guitar string, every aching melody. A very graceful record.
